Necklift

Neck Lift Boca Raton, FL

The neck is one of the first signs of aging as the loss of elasticity and collagen results in loose neck skin. Another sign is the fullness under the chin which may be due to the fat collection above and below the platysma and laxity of the platysma muscle. Dr. Albert Dabbah's Approach to Neck Lift Surgery

Dr. Dabbah’s goal with neck lift surgery is to obtain a youthful chin and neck to reflect the youthfulness of the face. Few patients are ideal patients for a neck lift alone. More often than not, the neck lift is done in combination with a facelift. There are, however, times that a neck lift alone is indicated.

Dr. Dabbah makes an incision under the chin. Through this incision, Dr. Dabbah gains access to the fat above and below the platysma muscle, and the fat is removed when necessary. At that time, he tightens the platysmal bands giving the contour to the neck and chin that patients request. Dr. Dabbah also makes incisions around the earlobe, behind the ear, and into the hairline. He redrapes the skin over the newly tightened neck and removes the excess loose skin. His refined surgical technique leaves minimal scars.

What Procedures Can Dr. Dabbah Combine with a Neck Lift?

Although a neck lift, at times, can be done alone, most patients combine it with other procedures to achieve a balance. A neck lift is often done in combination with a facelift, but additional procedures include:

"I've worked for surgeons and will only go to the best. My experience with Dr. Dabbah was excellent. The procedure and follow-up care were fantastic. Along with skill and talent, he's easy to talk with and his staff are wonderful."

Who Is the Ideal Candidate for Neck Lift?

The ideal patient has laxity of the neck and platysmal bands and wants to restore their neck and jawline. They do not have significant aging of the face. The ideal patient is physically healthy and has realistic expectations. They must be a non-smoker or willing to quit all nicotine products for at least two to three months prior to the surgery.

Do Men Get Neck Lifts?

More and more men are embracing the benefits of plastic surgery, and it’s no surprise that men are requesting facelifts and neck lifts. Aging affects their self-confidence in the workplace. Men state they are competing with the younger generations for job security. They want to do what is necessary to stay youthful in their employers’ eyes. Additionally, we are now online for video meetings and social media, and the face and neck are the focus. Men are acutely conscious of how their appearance can impact their relationships, career opportunities, and self-image.

Men typically want to address their necks. They see the loss of definition of the jawline, fullness of the neck, and appearance of a double chin. Neck lift surgery can sculpt the jawline and reduce the fullness of the neck and chin while preserving a strong, masculine appearance.

Combining Neck Lift and Facial Surgery

To balance the youthful look, a facelift is usually necessary for most patients. Dr. Albert Dabbah only performs natural-looking surgery, and if a patient wants only the face or only the neck, the look is no longer uniform. Dr. Dabbah will advise you on the best way to achieve the most youthful and natural look for your individual needs.

What To Expect During Neck Lift Recovery

Neck lift surgery is usually performed as an outpatient and takes between two and three hours. When you awake and become alert, you will need to have a family member or friend drive you home. You will have bandages that will remain in place until you return to Dr. Dabbah for your first postoperative visit. At that time, the bandages will be removed, and Dr. Dabbah will remove some sutures. He will see you the following week to remove the rest of the sutures.

Pain level, or discomfort, is different for everyone. Most patients feel tightness under their chin and neck, but generally, the discomfort is minimal. Dr. Dabbah will prescribe pain medication if necessary.

Bruising and swelling are also based on the individual. Patients will notice a difference in their neck, chin, and jawline immediately, although they will certainly still be swollen. The swelling dissipates over weeks. Dr. Dabbah’s patients rarely get heavy bruising, but that also fades over the first two weeks. Any numbness subsides over 6 months.

The recovery of a neck lift, with or without the facelift, is different from any other surgery. It is important that the patient follows Dr. Dabbah’s explicit instructions to obtain the longevity of the neck lift. We ask that for approximately two weeks, patients do not turn their head left to right or up and down, as the delicate work and results can be compromised. You can resume driving in about two weeks. Regular exercise and activities may be restricted for up to six weeks.

FAQ

Neck Lift in
Boca Raton, Florida

A neck lift provides results that last from 5 to 10 years, depending on factors like skin quality, age, and lifestyle choices. To extend the results, maintain a healthy lifestyle and follow a consistent skincare regimen. Regular follow-up consultations with your plastic surgeon help monitor and sustain the outcomes. Certainly, although years have passed and you’ve aged, you will look better at 5-10 years than you do at the consultation.

The ideal age for a neck lift ranges between 40 and 60 years. However, the timing for the procedure varies based on individual aging patterns and specific aesthetic goals. A consultation with a qualified plastic surgeon provides personalized recommendations on the optimal timing for a neck lift based on your unique needs.

A professionally performed neck lift yields very natural-looking results. The procedure enhances the neck’s appearance while preserving the patient’s natural look, avoiding any overdone or excessively tight appearance. An experienced surgeon tailors the procedure meticulously to achieve a balanced and harmonious outcome.

The cost of a neck lift varies from patient to patient based on the extent of correction needed, the surgical technique used, and whether the procedure is combined with a facelift or other treatments. Additional factors, such as anesthesia and facility fees, also play a role in your overall investment. During your consultation, Dr. Dabbah and his team will review your goals and provide a personalized quote so you know exactly what to expect financially before moving forward.

Neck lift surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia, so patients remain comfortable and unaware throughout the procedure. A board-certified anesthesiologist monitors your vitals closely from start to finish to ensure your safety. Dr. Dabbah will discuss the anesthesia plan with you during your consultation and address any concerns you may have about the process.

Preparing for a neck lift involves following your surgeon’s pre-operative instructions closely, which may include adjusting certain medications and supplements that can affect bleeding or healing. Arranging for a trusted friend or family member to drive you home and help around the house in the days following surgery is also important. Stocking your kitchen with soft, nourishing foods and setting up a comfortable recovery space ahead of time can make your healing experience much smoother.

Neck liposuction removes excess fat beneath the chin but does not address loose skin or a weakened platysma muscle, making it best suited for younger patients with good skin elasticity. A neck lift, on the other hand, tightens the underlying muscle and removes excess skin in addition to fat, delivering a more comprehensive and longer-lasting improvement. Dr. Dabbah can help determine which approach, or combination of both, will best achieve your goals.

Many patients who work in an office or remote setting feel ready to return once they feel confident meeting with others, while those in physically active roles typically need more time before resuming full duties. Every patient heals at a different pace, so Dr. Dabbah tailors his guidance to your specific job and lifestyle during follow-up visits. Planning ahead with your employer for a flexible return can help reduce stress during your recovery.

Many patients incorporate non-surgical treatments like radiofrequency skin tightening, neuromodulators, or dermal fillers to complement and extend their neck lift results as natural aging continues. These maintenance treatments can help preserve skin quality and address minor changes without requiring additional surgery. Dr. Dabbah can recommend a personalized maintenance plan during your follow-up appointments.

Yes, it is possible to undergo a neck lift without a facelift. Many patients choose a neck lift alone if their primary concern is excess skin and fat in the neck area. The decision to combine a neck lift with other facial procedures depends on individual goals and areas of concern. A thorough consultation with a plastic surgeon helps determine the most suitable approach.

A neck lift produces significant and noticeable improvements in the neck’s appearance. However, the enhancements look natural and subtle. The primary goal is to improve the neck’s contour and appearance without making it obvious that surgical intervention has occurred.

Neck lifts result in scars, but Dr. Dabbah typically places them discreetly behind the ears and under the chin. With proper postoperative care and time, these scars fade significantly and become less noticeable. The best surgeons use meticulous techniques to minimize scarring and ensure that any visible marks are as inconspicuous as possible.

A neck lift is generally more effective than non-surgical neck tightening procedures for addressing significant sagging and excess skin. Surgical neck lifts offer more dramatic and longer-lasting results. In contrast, non-surgical options, such as radiofrequency or ultrasound treatments, benefit minor tightening and maintenance.

Choosing the right surgeon starts with confirming board certification in plastic surgery and reviewing their specific experience with neck lift techniques, including before-and-after photos of real patients. It is equally important to feel comfortable communicating openly with your surgeon and trusting their recommendations for your unique anatomy and goals. Dr. Dabbah welcomes questions during your consultation so you can make a confident, informed decision.

A neck lift focuses specifically on tightening the neck muscles and skin to improve the jawline and chin contour, while a lower facelift addresses the lower face, including jowls and the nasolabial folds. Many patients benefit from combining both procedures to achieve a balanced, harmonious result between the face and neck. Dr. Dabbah will evaluate your unique concerns to recommend whether one or both procedures fit your goals.

Turkey neck refers to the loose, sagging skin and vertical banding that can develop under the chin as the platysma muscle weakens and skin loses elasticity. A neck lift directly addresses this concern by tightening the platysma muscle and removing excess skin to restore a smoother, more defined neck contour. Patients often describe this as among the most transformative benefits of undergoing the procedure.

Many patients feel ready to move forward after meeting with Dr. Dabbah, especially when they arrive with clear goals and realistic expectations, though additional visits are always welcome for anyone who wants more time to feel confident. During your consultation, Dr. Dabbah will assess your neck and facial anatomy, discuss your goals, and outline a customized surgical plan tailored specifically to you. There is no pressure to decide right away, and you are welcome to return for follow-up conversations anytime you need more clarity before committing to surgery.
