Facelift in Boca Raton, FL

Facial rejuvenation can be achieved by using different modalities. In those patients who notice a lack of fullness of the cheeks, jowling along the jawline, and excess skin of the face and neck, the gold standard, facelift, or rhytidectomy, is usually the best first step and optimal choice.

With almost 30 years of extensive plastic surgical experience, Boca Raton board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Albert Dabbah has the unparalleled skills to help you achieve the youthful face and self-confidence you want. His reputation is one that prides itself on natural facelift results. To obtain that natural, not pulled look, a surgical facelift alone may not target all the issues. During the initial consultation, Dr. Dabbah will provide what additional facial procedures or treatments will achieve that ultimate goal.

Why Choose Dr. Albert Dabbah for Facelift Surgery in Boca Raton, FL?

Dr. Albert Dabbah’s honest approach to facelift surgery, as well as his meticulous skill, is why the medical community in Boca Raton refers to him time and time again. The general patient community chooses Dr. Dabbah for their ability to talk to him, the ease of communication, their ability to trust the outcome and, of course, the confidence and self-esteem that comes with a beautiful result.

Dr. Dabbah’s Approach to Facelift Surgery

Dr. Dabbah’s approach to facelift surgery differs from patient to patient, and women to men, as he individualizes the surgery to the specific needs of each patient. No two facelift procedures are alike, although the end result is to achieve a natural look, taking 10-15 years off a patient’s age. Facelift surgery is designed to lift the deeper ligaments and tissues of the cheek that have dropped with time. Fat and tissue are repositioned, including that which has fallen to the jowls, allowing a more defined jawline. It is important to note that facelift surgery does not address nor improve the quality of the skin. That is where the additional treatments or procedures are valuable.

What Can I Expect During a Facelift Consultation?

We realize the decision on whether to have a facelift is not an easy one. Dr. Dabbah’s staff will make you feel comfortable from the first telephone call, and we are available for questions throughout that decision process.

During your consultation, you will meet with Dr. Dabbah, who will review the procedure and how it will address your concerns. He will answer any questions, including those which may differ from other plastic surgeons’ consultations. Dr. Dabbah will explain what you can expect from the facelift surgery and what other potential procedures should be considered. He, or his staff, will review the general information as to hospital options and scheduling. You will have the opportunity to review before and after photographs and receive fees before you leave. Our commitment to your comfort and confidence is paramount. Above all else, this will become quite evident from the first telephone call

Combining Facelift and Neck Lift Surgery

Another sign of the aging process is a sagging neck with loose platysmal bands. To address this, Dr. Dabbah makes an incision below the chin to gain access to underlying tissues and bands that need treatment. In some cases, a little liposuction helps accomplish the contour he desires. The excess skin is then removed from behind the ears to achieve the tightness he and the patient desire.

Because Dr. Dabbah is such a perfectionist, if a patient consults for a facelift but presents with a full or droopy neck as well, he will always address the neck with a neck lift. He is known to turn away patients who demand only the facelift when uniformity necessitates the neck be treated. With his aesthetic eye, a person who has a nice facelift but whose neck is crepey or full will not only still look older but will look “unfinished.”

What Happens During the Facelift Recovery?

Dr. Albert Dabbah believes in performing facelift surgery in the hospital with an overnight stay. His reasoning is that if the patient needs him that first night, he can get to her or him easier than the patient can get to Dr. Dabbah. It also allows Dr. Dabbah to check on his patient in the early evening as well as in the morning. Because of the higher potential for a hematoma, usually occurring in the first 24 hours, having the patient stay overnight eases the transition into the operating room, if necessary. Additionally, the patient’s significant other may be nervous about caring for their loved one that first night. The patient is more aware the following day to be able to participate in their own care.

The facelift patient wakes up in the recovery room with head bandages similar to the look of a Q-tip but with the face open. Dr. Dabbah generally does not use drains for his facelifts as he treats the tissues gently and respectfully and finds they are unnecessary. Although the pain level and tolerance for discomfort are different for everyone, all patients tend to feel tightness under their chin (a great thing!) and tightness or discomfort behind their ears. Dr. Dabbah will help them to manage their discomfort with medication.

For most patients, bruising is minimal. There will be areas of numbness that subside within 3-6 months. Dr. Albert Dabbah of Boca Raton explains to his patients that the recovery period for face and neck lift surgery is different and unlike any other surgical procedure. The tissues are thin, the capillaries are tiny, and consequently, the potential for hematoma is greater in facelift surgery than any other. Due to the intricacies of the surgery, Dr. Dabbah’s instructions are fairly specific so as to not chance the need for a return to the operating room.

The patient will be asked not to move their head up and down or right and left for at least two weeks. Driving can resume in about two weeks. The patient can return to full exercise and an active lifestyle in approximately six weeks. Most swelling and bruising subside in about two weeks, and you will notice a difference in your face and neck almost immediately. However, it does take time for the tissues to take their final shape.

Facelift for Men

As societal attitudes towards cosmetic enhancement continue to evolve, there has been a notable increase in the number of men seeking facelift surgery in recent years. This can be attributed to the advancements in technology and techniques, which have made plastic surgery more accessible and less invasive. As a result, men are now more inclined to consider facial contouring surgery as a viable option for achieving their aesthetic goals.

The motivations behind men seeking facelift surgery are varied. Some may be driven by a desire to restore a more youthful and refreshed appearance, while others may be looking to address specific concerns such as sagging facial skin, wrinkles, or a lack of definition in the face. Additionally, some men may be motivated by a desire to improve their facial appearance for professional or personal reasons.

In addition, men are becoming increasingly cognizant of the mental benefits that plastic surgery can offer. They recognize that facelift surgery can not only enhance their facial appearance but also improve their overall sense of well-being. As such, men are becoming more inclined to invest in a more youthful appearance, and facelift surgery is becoming an increasingly popular choice among them.

FAQ

Facelift in Boca Raton

A well-prepared patient will get the most out of the consultation. A patient should be able to express to the plastic surgeon what specifically bothers him or her when they look in the mirror or in certain clothing. A patient should express to the plastic surgeon what they do not want, for example, a pulled look. If the patient has had other consultations, he or she should ask how or why the surgeon’s approach is different. It also helps to bring in photos at different ages to see the progression over the years, and the surgeon can explain what has happened over the timeline.

In my practice, we give instructions as to what the patient should wear and what the patient should have in the house regarding foods and beverages. The patient should have a few different options for chairs to move into to alleviate the discomfort of sitting or lying in the same position over time. A lounge chair is ideal but not vital. We also give instructions as to what medications and supplements should be avoided.

We schedule facelifts for between 4 and 6 hours. For example, a man with a full neck may need more time. Additionally, facelifts are commonly combined with other procedures, such as eye surgery or fat grafting.

These days, we see patients in their 40s through their 80s. It is more important that the patient is healthy and has realistic expectations.

There is no standard definition for a facelift. Each surgeon has their definition based on what they are going to do. I think “mini” came into play when plastic surgeons started doing mid and lower facelifts only instead of doing that along with brows and/or eyes.

Some patients are candidates for non-surgical options, such as fillers or laser resurfacing. Depending on the patient’s needs, these can help but may not be enough. Also, the patient’s needs may require an abundance of filler, for example, which can be very expensive.

Liquid facelifts add volume to the face to give a more youthful appearance. It can help the jawline if there is some jowling, but it is more suitable for the younger patient. It cannot lift the structures of the face as a traditional facelift, nor does it help the neck.

This is an important question. To begin, it is vital that the patient honors the postop instructions. Much intricate work has been done, and the instructions are specific. In addition, avoid sun exposure, use sunblock, and never smoke. There are great medically efficacious skin care products that can reverse and slow down the aging of your skin by improving its appearance and collagen production.

Recovery time varies, but most of my patients are comfortable by two weeks.

We like our patients to wait six weeks after their facelift to resume exercise or sports.

A lot depends on your job description and what is required of you. Most patients return in 2 weeks, but we’ve had others who returned to work in a week!

Absolutely not. Any tobacco or nicotine use is a non-starter. The patient must refrain from all tobacco, patches, gum, and vaping for a minimum of 3-4 months before surgery.

The most common risk is a hematoma or bleeding. The risk is 4% in women and 8% in men. Other risks are discussed during the initial consultation and reviewed during the preoperative consultation.
