Eyelid Surgery in Boca Raton, FL

Your eyes are the focal point when engaging with others. People form an impression of your well-being based on what your eyes convey. For example, excess skin and fat on the upper or lower lids may elicit comments about how tired or sad you look.

Due to the delicate nature of the skin surrounding the eyes, it is often the first area to show signs of aging. Over time, fine lines and wrinkles turn into sagging skin and drooping eyelids that can cause vision impairment and reduced self-confidence. Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is the most effective way to reduce these signs of aging and achieve a younger, happier, and more engaging look.

With almost 30 years of extensive plastic surgery experience, Boca Raton plastic surgeon Dr. Albert Dabbah has earned certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only recognized board for plastic surgeons. He has the knowledge and skill to rejuvenate your eyes and help you gain confidence when engaging with others. Throughout his distinguished career, he has developed a reputation for natural-looking results.

Dabbah's Approach to Eyelid Surgery

First, Dr. Dabbah will assess your concerns and the extent of your skin aging to determine whether you need upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, or both.

Upper Eyelid Surgery

For upper blepharoplasty, Dr. Dabbah establishes the accurate amount of excess skin to remove and makes an incision along the fold of your eyelid. Many patients benefit from fat excision for that open and alert look. Dr. Dabbah achieves this through the same incision.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

Lower blepharoplasty is the procedure to eliminate undereye fat accumulation, or “bags.” At times, Dr. Dabbah may remove a small amount of excess skin. Skill is paramount because it is vital not to remove too much. Patients may opt for laser resurfacing to tighten the skin under the eye as an alternative. To address lower lid blepharoplasty, Dr. Dabbah makes an incision inside the lower eyelid to remove the fat and under the eyelashes to remove excess skin.

Combining Other Procedures With Eyelid Surgery

On its own, eyelid surgery can make a significant difference in restoring a youthful face. Many times, when combined with other procedures, the results are stunning.

Procedures that enhance blepharoplasty include:

What to Expect From Eyelid Surgery Recovery

Upon waking, your eyes may be blurry and feel tight. Dr. Dabbah will ask you to keep cold compresses or gel packs on your eyes for 24 to 48 hours. He prefers his patients to sleep on an extra pillow. Over the following days, your eyes might feel dry or scratchy, and Dr. Dabbah will explain what to do for greater comfort.

If your upper eyelids are done, the sutures will come out five to seven days later. The sutures for lower blepharoplasty are dissolvable. Dr. Dabbah will monitor your progress for a few months to ensure good healing.

Most patients resume driving one week after surgery. You can resume full activities in approximately four weeks, depending on your procedural plan. The results will be visible at the post-op appointment, though residual swelling and bruising will subside over a few weeks.

Eyelid Surgery for Men

Men are increasingly choosing plastic surgery to feel more youthful and exude confidence. Taking the weight off the upper eyelids and removing fat from the lower lids opens the eyes and helps reverse the permanently fatigued look that leads people to ask if you are getting enough sleep.

Dr. Dabbah understands that men and women have different cosmetic goals, so he customizes treatment plans for his male patients. The goal of male eyelid surgery is to preserve facial masculinity. Dr. Dabbah never feminizes a man’s face, including the eyes.

Why Should You Choose Dr. Dabbah for Your Boca Raton Eyelid Surgery?

Dr. Dabbah runs his practice as a boutique, treating each patient with a personalized approach. People continue choosing his surgical services for his empathy and ability to make honest, thoughtful recommendations. He does not accept every patient who consults with him. Patients never feel rushed during their consultations. Instead, they leave with valuable knowledge about their chosen procedure.

FAQ

Eyelift in Boca Raton

The cost can vary depending on the length of the surgery, whether the focus is on upper or lower eyelids or both, and whether the procedure is done in the office or surgery center.

Eyelid surgery will undoubtedly refresh the faces of both men and women. Certainly, if skin resurfacing is necessary, that will add to the youthfulness, as will a face and neck lift, if indicated.

Upon examination, a plastic surgeon can tell if the ptosis is due to excess skin or if you have a problem with the levator muscle, which is a different surgery altogether.

Not necessarily. Most patients achieve what they want with Botox, as long as they are a good candidate and it is injected properly.

I can get millimeters of eyelid lift with Botox, so I would say yes. But eventually, the weight of the lids will win.

Regarding upper blepharoplasty, many people come into my office complaining that their eyes feel heavy. Women state they cannot easily put on their makeup or that their eye makeup doesn’t show. Men state they cannot open their eyes widely. Many people compensate for the weight on their eyelids by unknowingly lifting their brows, causing lines across the brow. As for lower blepharoplasty, patients complain about “bags” or that they look tired when they don’t feel tired. A careful examination by a plastic surgeon will determine what you need and if you are a candidate for these procedures.

Upper eyelid surgery is designed to remove excess skin and fat from the upper lid. A brow lift is designed to elevate your eyebrows.

Botox has played a significant role because it’s a nonsurgical option to lift the brow, and there’s no downtime.

Some patients need Botox after a brow lift to eliminate the 11 lines or want brow shaping.

I inject Botox to smooth out the brow, 11 lines, and crow’s feet. I also use Botox to shape the eyebrows to give interest to the upper face.
