What is a Breast Lift?
Breast lift surgery, medically known as a mastopexy, is a plastic surgery procedure that elevates the breasts by removing excess skin and reshaping the breast tissue to restore their youthful shape and appearance. Over time, with hormonal changes, weight fluctuation, aging, and loss of skin elasticity, the breasts’ volume will shift from the upper pole to the bottom, causing a deflated, flattened appearance. At times, even young women develop asymmetrically or with drooping breasts.
A breast lift reshapes the elongated breast into a rounder and more youthful look. In addition, the nipple is raised to a more youthful position. The areola, which may have enlarged with the elongated breast, is reduced to match the more rounded new breast.
Sagging breasts can cause strain on the shoulder and back. In addition to the increased confidence gained with a breast lift, a breast lift changes the center of gravity, helping to alleviate the discomfort and allowing for enhanced daily activities and lifestyle.
What is a Breast Lift with Implants?
While a breast lift itself reshapes drooping breasts, some patients want fuller breasts. A breast lift alone tends to reduce the size of the breast due to the removal of excess skin. For patients who do not want smaller breasts or who want to add volume, implants can be placed for firmness and fullness.
The goal of breast augmentation is to improve the volume of the breast but not to lift it to a more youthful position. A patient may want a breast lift in combination with the augmentation to gain that youthful fullness and position. Dr. Dabbah will have an in-depth consultation to determine your goal.

What is Implant Removal and Breast Lift? What is Breast Implant Removal and Capsulectomy?
Breast implant removal is the surgery to remove breast implants, either for personal choice or out of medical necessity. When an implant is placed, naturally occurring scar tissue is formed around that implant, called a capsule. The implant should remain soft. In the event that it hardens, called a capsular contracture, patients may experience mild to great discomfort. It can also displace the implant or cause the implant to leak or rupture.
A capsulectomy is the procedure to remove this capsule and, in the case of a silicone implant, includes the removal of the silicone that may have leaked as well as a cleansing of the surrounding tissue.
Breast Implant Removal and Breast Lift
At times, once the breast implants are removed, for personal reasons or medical necessity, the breasts may droop or look deflated. The patient can opt to replace the implants with another size or type and/or choose to do a breast lift to help with the shape and appearance of the breasts. With Dr. Dabbah, the goal of plastic surgery is to boost self-confidence, and that is what these procedures aim to do.

What Are the Benefits of Combining the Breast Lift with Breast Augmentation?
Combining a breast lift with breast augmentation can be challenging and does require a skilled and experienced plastic surgeon. Each procedure has its own goals; a breast lift is to lift, reshape and tighten the breast and an augmentation is to enlarge the breast.
The potential for revision surgery when combining the two procedures is greater than the potential for each revision. But patients prefer to take that small chance to have the surgery at one time. The surgery tends to be less expensive than when done separately, and the patient needs to undergo anesthesia one time. Also, the patient needs to recover once rather than twice, so less time to take off work. And Dr. Albert Dabbah can use the same incisions to accomplish both the breast lift and the breast augmentation.
What Types of Implants Does Dr. Dabbah Offer?
Saline and Silicone are the two types of implants Dr. Dabbah uses
Saline breast implants come as empty shells that Dr. Dabbah fills with a sterile saline solution after placement. They are available in round and teardrop shapes, but Dr. Dabbah uses the round, smooth implant exclusively. The saline implant allows Dr. Dabbah flexibility of the amount of saline to obtain the firmness and fill he wants to achieve.
Silicone breast implants feel more natural, making them the popular choice for breast enhancement patients. They tend to have less rippling than the saline. Again, Dr. Dabbah opts for the round, smooth silicone implants. They also come in a variety of profiles which will be discussed at the preoperative consultation.
What Are the Types of Breast Lift Techniques?
After careful discussions with you, Dr. Dabbah will help you choose the best breast lift technique for you. He will take into account the size of the breasts, the amount of drooping, the amount of excess skin, and other cosmetic concerns such as nipple placement and previous breast surgery.
A periareolar or “doughnut” lift is used on women who have very little sagging and minimal excess skin. The incision is made around the areola.
A lollipop breast lift is for women with more significant sagging and excess skin. This approach involves an incision that goes around the areola and extends vertically down to the breast crease. Dr. Dabbah is able to reshape the breast with a longer incision.
The anchor lift involves creating incisions around the areola, a vertical incision down to the breast crease, and horizontally along the breast crease. This procedure is used for the more severe cases of breast sagging.
Where Is Breast Lift Surgery Performed, and What is the Recovery Process?
Breast lift surgery is performed as an outpatient in a surgery center under general anesthesia. Once you are stable in the recovery room, you will be allowed to go home with a friend or family member. Dr. Dabbah does, at times, use drains which will be removed a week following your breast lift surgery. We will provide you with a recovery bra to help provide additional support during the healing process.
The discomfort lasts a few days and is managed with pain medication. You should plan to take one to two weeks off from work. You may resume driving within two weeks when you are no longer taking pain medication and have had time to recover from surgery.
We ask patients to keep their arms below their shoulders and to refrain from picking up anything heavy for at least two weeks. Dr. Dabbah will inform you when you can resume exercise and the daily activities as they apply to you individually.
You will immediately notice a difference in your breast size, shape, and projection, but it takes time for them to settle into their final position.

FAQ
Breast Lift in Boca Raton
The answer to that depends on many factors. Most importantly, the quality of your skin and underlying tissues and the weight or size of your breasts. Women with stronger tissue and smaller breasts tend to hold on to their results longer. Newer techniques allow us to not rely on your skin to prevent sagging but rather on the stronger underlying tissues. Occasionally, mesh-type material is used for structural support.
Incisions will generally heal quickly, but the final result of the appearance of your scar could take 1- 2 years. We will follow you closely and recommend scar therapy to optimize the healing process.
We recommend sleeping on your back for a few weeks.
A breast lift has no bearing on your ability to get pregnant. However, pregnancy and breastfeeding can alter the size, shape, and position of your breasts.
Yes. Some women want increased volume as well as upper breast fullness. Breast implants are commonly necessary to achieve that result.
